Revealed to the World. The all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.

One world, one Chevrolet
When you design a midsize sedan to meet the driving needs of people across the planet, you benchmark some of the best cars out there. You listen carefully when people tell you they want more style, more safety and more performance. And you know that, now more than ever, there’s a critical need for greater fuel efficiency.

Introducing the all-new 2013 Malibu and Malibu Eco. Coming in 2012.

Its refinement and responsive driving characteristics bring a quiet confidence to the next generation of Chevrolet Malibu. And joining the Malibu family for the first time ever, the 2013 Malibu Eco will offer up to 38 MPG highway1 — that’s better than Toyota Camry Hybrid2.

Aggressively sophisticated
Malibu has been designed with a wider track than before and an aggressive stance, giving it a new presence on the road ahead and a lasting impression behind. Its refined ride and handling responds to the driver’s every instinct with a seamless intuition, the result of extensive tuning and calibration on freeways, test tracks and rural roads around the world. The all-new 2013 Malibu is the midsize sedan to set a new standard for premium style and assertive performance.

Efficiency in motion
More than ever there’s a critical need for greater efficiency. And you can be confident the 2013 Malibu Eco optimizes every drop of fuel with its 2.4L Ecotec direct injection Variable Valve Timing, 4-cylinder engine. And, for the first time on a Chevrolet, eAssist technology. eAssist a state-of-the-art system that uses power stored in the advanced 115V lithium-ion battery along with a 14kW motor-generator to provide an electrical boost in various driving scenarios, which allows for increased fuel economy3.

Practical elegance
The all-new 2013 Malibu not only performs above its class, its intricate and worldly design introduces a new level of style among midsize sedans. Taking design cues from the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette, the 2013 Malibu boasts an assured and strong stance with dynamic lines that both please your senses and improve efficiency.

Quiet confidence
Malibu will not only surprise you, it will surprise owners of the world’s finest midsize sedans — and rightfully so. You’ll hear it in the interior designed with acoustic laminated glass and triple door seals to help keep outside noise outside. This with the delicate craftsmanship of its interior creates an intimate atmosphere that is authentically Malibu. And Chevrolet.

‘Chevy Happy Grad’ Wins Route 66 Super Bowl Ad Contest

By ataylor | Posted in News on Friday, January 20th, 2012 at 4:28 PM

DETROIT – “Chevy Happy Grad,” an ad submitted by 26-year old Long Island resident Zach Borst, will be aired during the telecast of Super Bowl XLVI, beating out submissions by independent filmmakers from around the world as part of Chevrolet’s Route 66 Super Bowl ad contest.

The ads had more than 32 million total online views between December 22 and January 14.

“We asked filmmakers to depict life’s journey and how Chevrolet is there along the way,” said General Motors Global Chief Marketing Officer Joel Ewanick. “When I saw Zach’s spot, I had to laugh, because the situation is something many families can related to – expectation and reality. ‘Happy Grad’ clearly shows the passion that Chevrolet elicits.”

Borst’s audience on Super Bowl Sunday is expected to exceed 110 million television viewers. “Chevy Happy Grad” was filmed on location near his home on Long Island during a weather window that offered Zach, his cast and crew only four hours to complete the project.

“My Dad was a cop and worked real hard to be able to buy his kids their first cars. They were used, but mine meant the world to me,” Borst said. “Then I wondered what it would look like if I got a brand new Camaro? I mean, after all, who wouldn’t want a Camaro as a graduation gift?”

Borst, an aspiring filmmaker, has been producing films since his childhood and founded his own production company, Goat Farm Films, based in New York.

During Chevrolet’s Route 66 Super Bowl ad contest, filmmakers from 32 countries submitted 400 scripts and 198 films for consideration. “Chevy Happy Grad” and other ads from the contest can be viewed at Chevrolet’s You Tube channel.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette spied with C7 body

By ataylor | Posted in Autos, News on Thursday, January 19th, 2012 at 11:23 AM

DETROIT — Corvette’s future is crystallizing as the temperature drops. The C7 was captured by spy shooters in cold-weather testing in the Great White North, and the profile indicates a wedge-like silhouette, curvy, slightly flared fenders and a potentially longer wheelbase.

Production of the next-generation 2014 Chevrolet Corvette will begin next year. These shots advance previous knowledge of the C7, which now appears to have been photographed in an actual body shell. Older pictures indicated the wider wheelbase but were C6-bodied.

These fresh shots from KGP Photography, posted by Autoweek, an affiliate of Automotive News, show the quad exhaust in the rear, the distinctive taillights and a prominent air intake in front. We also expect the C7 to employ an all-aluminum frame and perhaps some carbon-fiber techniques.

But, insiders have noted that the Corvette is a reasonably light car already, and Lamborghini or McLaren-style techniques might not be necessary.

The engine is also a source of much speculation, and a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 is a strong possibility. Currently, the top-end Corvettes run 6.2-liter V8s. A seven-speed manual transmission is also a possibility.

Interestingly, these shots appear to offer an authentic first look at the styling direction of the C7, as it’s heavily clad with both camouflage and dark armor.

The sightings come as Chevy announced plans last week for a 427 convertible, which draws Z06 power into an open-air configuration, and a 60th-anniversary edition to celebrate the final run of the C6. This car will have a shortened model year.

General Motors said in May that it will spend $131 million and will add 250 jobs to improve the Bowling Green, Ky., factory that builds the Corvette. That’s a dramatic increase from the $39 million spent in 2005 when the site changed over to produce the C6.

2012 Chevy Equinox Delivers ‘Best Bang for the Buck’

By ataylor | Posted in News on Wednesday, January 18th, 2012 at 1:12 PM

The small crossover segment is packed with strong entries, but few can deliver the kind of value offered by the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Just ask the team at MSN Autos, which recently named the ’Nox to its “Best Bang for the Buck: Crossovers” list.

The popular Chevy gained acclaim for a wide range of features, starting with its strong fuel-economy numbers. The 2012 Equinox is capable of EPA ratings of 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway/26 mpg combined, providing a highway cruising range of more than 600 miles. Also earning praise from MSN Autos was the vehicle’s high-versatility interior. Thanks to Chevy’s Multiflex seating system, the Equinox’s rear seats can be moved forward or backward by almost eight inches to offer either best-in-class rear legroom or a rear cargo area capable of holding more than 31 cubic feet of gear.

There’s further versatility under the skin, too. In addition to its advanced 2.4-liter Ecotec I4 engine with direct injection—the best choice for fuel economy—Chevy also offers a powerful 3.0-liter V6 that makes 264 hp and a robust 222 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines also can be mated to GM’s proven all-wheel-drive system for an added dose of surefootedness.

For the new model year, Chevrolet has improved the Equinox’s value proposition even further with a host of available new features, including:

  • The Chevy MyLink connectivity system
  • A rearview camera system (standard on the Equinox 1LT)
  • A seven-inch color touchscreen audio system with USB port (standard on 1LT, 2LT and LTZ trims)
  • OnStar-enabled Bluetooth phone functionality and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls (now standard on the Equinox LS)
  • 18-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels (available on the Equinox 2LT and LTZ)
  • Blind-spot mirrors (now standard on all models)
  • A lane-departure warning and forward collision alert system (available on the Equinox LTZ with a V6)

Closing the deal for MSN Autos: Even with all that “bang,” the MSRP of the Equinox opens at just 23,450 bucks.

Chrysler Group LLC Earns Three Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards For 2011

By ataylor | Posted in News on Monday, January 16th, 2012 at 2:32 PM

  • Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Challenger, and Jeep Brand are winners
  • Eleventh consecutive Automotive Loyalty Award for Town & Country
  • Jeep Brand has most improved loyalty in the industry

January 11, 2012 , Auburn Hills, Mich. – Chrysler Group LLC announced  that it received three Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards for the 2011 model year. The Chrysler Town & Country won the “Minivan” category for an eleventh consecutive time, the Dodge Challenger took the “Sports Car” segment for the second year in a row and the entire Jeep Brand took the “Most Improved Loyalty to Make” award.

“Achieving loyalty honors across the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands is evidence of Chrysler Group’s organizational commitment to both owner loyalty and product excellence,” said Brad Smith, director of Polk’s Loyalty Management Practice. “Consumers have many options when they return to market and it’s clear that Chrysler Group is committed to retaining their owner base.”

The awards recognize manufacturers for superior owner loyalty performance, which is determined when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to market and purchases or leases another new vehicle of the same model or make. The 2011 awards are based on an analysis of 5.5 million return-to-market events during the 2011 model year.

“We’re very happy to accept these Loyalty Awards from Polk, especially considering that they’re a direct reflection of customer satisfaction,” said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President – Quality, Chrysler Group LLC. “We have gone to great lengths in recent years to improve our line-up with better performing, higher quality vehicles—and to take better care of our customers after the sale. These awards help validate those efforts.”

Chrysler Town & Country
The 2012 Chrysler Town & Country minivan builds upon the dramatic, and well received, changes made in the previous model year. Already imbued with innovative technology, unparalleled functionality, classic design, and a long list of standard convenience and safety features, enhancements in refinement make the 2012 Town & Country a true stand-out in the minivan segment.

Improvements for 2012 include standard leather seating and rear-seat DVD for all models, new Sapphire Blue interior lighting scheme and a combination leather and wood steering wheel for Limited models.

Dodge Challenger
The 2012 Dodge Challenger delivers exactly what muscle car enthusiasts want — a powerful and efficient engine lineup, a performance suspension designed for maximum grip, and athletic head-turning styling — all executed with quality and precision.

The Dodge Challenger SXT model and Challenger SXT Plus package feature the lightweight, aluminum 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine with 305 horsepower, responsive 268 lb.-ft. of torque and up to 27 mpg highway. With legendary 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engines under their hoods, the 2012 Challenger R/T model delivers up to 375 horsepower, 410 lb.-ft. of torque and 25 mpg highway. Dodge Challenger SRT8 tops the model range with its massive 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque from a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 and an adjustable track-tuned suspension.

Jeep Brand
Jeep brand sales increased 44 percent in 2011 – versus an industry increase of 11 percent – with each Jeep model up at least 30 percent for the year. Jeep Wrangler – new, more powerful and fuel efficient for 2012 – set seven consecutive monthly sales records, and won several awards including two from leading enthusiast publications; the “4×4 Of the Year” from Petersen’s 4 Wheel & Off-Road and “Four Wheeler Of The year” from Four Wheeler magazine. Jeep’s redesigned Compass enjoyed a 200 percent sales increase, and sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the most awarded SUV ever – increased 51 percent in 2011.

Built on more than 70 years of legendary heritage, Jeep is the authentic SUV brand with class-leading capability, craftsmanship and versatility for people who seek extraordinary journeys. The Jeep brand delivers an open invitation to live life to the fullest by offering a full line of vehicles that continue to provide owners with a sense of security to handle any journey with confidence.

The Jeep vehicle lineup includes Compass, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, Patriot, Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. To meet consumer demand around the world, all six Jeep models are sold outside North America – and all are available in right-hand drive versions and with gasoline and diesel powertrain options. Chrysler Group LLC sells and services vehicles in approximately 120 countries around the world.
